On Motivation

For me, a pretty hefty reality check is the realization that the next guy is working harder than me.

I don't mean this in a competitive fashion - I mean this as "I'm not working hard enough for what I want."

I make legitimate excuses, but then I laugh when I hear other people say the same thing. I think, "Man, if they really wanted it then THAT wouldn't stop them."

And this is a new kind of motivation for me. It's a very self aware mindset that's helping me place value on goals and dreams. It's no longer just the hopeful pursuit of a destination, but a very real place with a journey that I won't complain about.

PS - I'm a dork.
